Morning conditions postponed the 2nd round of the Quicksilver Pro & Roxy Pro World Surfing Championship at Rainbow Bay.

Kelly Slater, the 8-time defending world champion from the US was again the favourite, but in the end we only got a quick glimpse of all these other amateurs. Professional or not, experience is definitely a must in order to maneuver in these powerful waves, some reaching upwards of 10 feet!

A visit to the ‘Twin Towns’ lagoon helped seal our decision NOT to return here the next day for the sailing/windsuring/swimming/snorkelling day we had signed up for. I guess the shallow, sea-weed infested water wasn’t the greatest, no was all the sea-gull shit and feathers lurking near the beach very attractive. Our highlight after lunch though was having to listen to this tour bus driver, walking alone in the park killing time while his load of passengers was out for the day. Looking like a lumberjack from Iceland with his knee high wool socks and hot pants on, this dude just kept talking, and ranting on and on about going to Noosa, and seeing the beautiful place called Noosa…..In the end, just another Aussie, proud to live in Queensland patriotic of his country!
